This is the second chapter of Woofles.
She's hurt. What should I do? I need help . . . no, I need to help HER! The last thought became an action as she ran to help the wounded girl. When she saw the girl, she gasped. She's bleeding! Where's Momma? She could help. Is the girl breathing? Her own thoughts seemed to scream at her. Then she saw something and it gave her an idea. She saw a phone! "Good thing I memorized my phone number," mumbled Natasha. Her voice was as shaky as her fingers as she dialed the number and said, " Momma! Are you there?" She heard a voice say,"What?" but it wasn't Momma's voice. It was . . . Lucy! "Lucy, hand the phone to MOMMA! It's an emergency!" "Sorry," said Lucy over the phone. Natasha took a breath. "Momma? Momma!" " What's the matter? You couldn't come to the house?" "It's 'cause she's bleeding, Momma!" Then Natasha remembered that Momma did not know what she was talking about. "There's a girl with blond hair laying in the middle of the road," she said in one breath. " Could you come here?" " Where is here?" Momma asked calmly. "21st Street and Rover Avenue," Natasha replied. " But hurry! Bring everything you think would be necessary!" There was a click as Momma hung up. " Why am I so scared?" she asked herself. " I don't know," she answered herself. God, she prayed, please help Momma to get here in time.
